At 2:11 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain.

ALERT: HEAT WARNING for Monday, June 12

First heat event of the season continues Monday. Temperatures on Monday are expected to be in the low thirties with humidex values near forty. 

Overnight lows are also expected to be near 21 degrees, providing little relief from the heat during this time frame.  

Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.  

Temperatures are expected fall below heat warning criteria by Tuesday as a trough moves into Southern Ontario.

Hot and humid conditions are expected Sunday and Monday. 

Temperatures are expected to be near 31 degrees Sunday and Monday with overnight lows near 20 degrees making this the first heat event of this year. 

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors. Temperatures are expected to fall below heat warning criteria by the middle of this week
