Mayor Watson's on Quebec Shootings

In memory of the victims of the
Québec City mosque shooting

I would like to express my sincerest condolences to the families and individuals affected by the horrific tragedy that took place on January 29 in Sainte-Foy, Québec. This senseless act of violence has no place in our society. Our country is a diverse, inclusive and welcoming nation for people of all faiths and nationalities. We must therefore stand united with our Muslim and faith based communities during this difficult time.
An online Book of Condolences is available to sign on
the City of Ottawa website until Sunday, February 5
inclusively. I invite you to write messages to
commemorate the victims and to share your thoughts and
prayers with their families.

I would also like to express my gratitude to
the community members who organized a very
thoughtful and beautiful vigil on Parliament Hill on
Monday, January 30. Together, we stood united and
showed our solidarity with all our fellow Canadians.
