Winter Parking Alert

02/16/2016 12:45

Ottawa – The winter overnight parking ban is in effect tonight between 1 a..m. to 7 a.m. across Ottawa. This overnight parking ban will remain in effect until the City announces it has been lifted.

Important information about changes to winter overnight parking bans

During an overnight parking ban, residents are reminded that there is no parking on city streets so that crews can plow them easily and effectively. Vehicles parked on the street between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. tonight may be ticketed, towed and fined. Avoid the ticket; do not park your vehicle on the street overnight. On-street parking permit holders are exempt from this restriction.

During winter overnight parking bans, residents will have free access to covered City-owned parking garages. For more information about which City garages are free during winter overnight parking bans, visit ottawa.ca.

Follow us on Twitter @ottawacity to receive updates, or subscribe to our electronic email alerts. If you subscribe to e-Alerts, you will receive notification each time an overnight parking ban is in effect, if the ban continues over more than one night and when the ban has been lifted. Where is My Plow
Road Services crews initially focus on plowing Highway 174, transit routes, and arterial and collector roads.   Where is My Plow only provides time estimates for snow plowing on other local roads. Plowing of these other local roads will begin once the priority transportation network is in good condition. The Where is My Plow web tool will be available at that time.

For more winter parking information, please visit ottawa.ca or call 3-1-1 (TTY: 613-580-2401).

The Committee of Adjustment in 30 Seconds

The Committee of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial tribunal appointed by City Council and is independent and autonomous from the City Administration. It derives its jurisdiction from the Planning Act of Ontario and its mandate is to:
·        Consider and make decisions on applications for Minor Variances from the provisions of a Zoning By-law
·        Consider and make decisions on applications for Consent to "sever" a property, or for any agreement, mortgage or lease that extends for more than 21 years
·        Consider and make decisions on applications for Permission, which deal with the enlargement or extension of a building or structure that is legally non-conforming, or a change in non-conforming use
·        Consider and make decisions on applications for Validation of Title and Power of Sale
The Committee of Adjustment and its application processes are separate and distinct from other municipal development approval processes, and one or more of these processes may occur at the same time.
