Get Natural, Ottawa

Ottawa's natural heritage system is comprised of a variety of significant natural features, associated contributing features and connecting linkages. Natural areas recharge our aquifers, filter rainfall and clean our air. It provides wildlife habitat and supports the diversity of our environment and restores us physically and mentally. The City seeks to protect significant natural areas as part of our natural heritage system.

Preserving yesterday, for tomorrow

Picture of Strathcona ParkTo ensure better management of our built heritage resources, the City has initiated the Heritage Inventory Project. This project will involve a city-wide survey and evaluation of all built structures in order to determine which resources contribute to the city's cultural heritage.

Do you or your community organization have information to share with us? The City's Heritage Services section is looking for your unique stories, facts, photographs, maps or articles which highlight the cultural heritage attributes of houses, barns, streets, neighbourhoods or other built resources throughout Ottawa. You can help shape the future of heritage preservation by contributing your information to heritage@ottawa.ca.
