Ottawa's natural heritage
system is comprised of a variety of significant natural
features, associated contributing features and connecting linkages. Natural
areas recharge our aquifers, filter rainfall and clean our air. It provides
wildlife habitat and supports the diversity of our environment and restores
us physically and mentally. The City seeks to protect significant natural
areas as part of our natural heritage system.
ensure better management of our built heritage resources, the City has
initiatedthe Heritage Inventory
Project. This project will involve a city-wide survey and
evaluation of all built structures in order to determine which resources
contribute to the city's cultural heritage.
Do you or your community organization have information to share with us? The City's Heritage Services
section is looking for your unique stories, facts,
photographs, maps or articles which highlight the cultural heritage attributes
of houses, barns, streets, neighbourhoods or other built resources
throughout Ottawa. You can help shape the future of heritage preservation
