KHCA Minutes June 1st 2015

1.         Draft Minutes:  
Draft minutes of April 13, 2015 and May 4, 2015 meetings 
were approved, as circulated.

 2.        President’s Update
             KHCA received no registrations for the June 6, 2015 yard sales.
             Wheelchair access to streetlight posts with pedestrian
 streetlight buttons is problematic in some areas due to gaps between 
the side walk paths and the posts.  The President has sent an email 
to the City in this regard.

Adjustment of Planning Consultation:   City has been 
experimenting with a pre-consultation process between City staff 
and the stakeholders in ward 18 for a year.  Results should become 
available soon.

Ditches in Vanstone-Belleview area with all day rain 
May 25th and storms May 30th;  
No one has noticed any negative effects of these ditches due 
to heavy rain on these 2 days.

Session for an update on the West Transitway Extension 
(Bayshore Station to Moodie Drive) project to learn about 
proposed revisio
At the Public Information Session, residents will be able to 
review the proposed revisions to the implementation strategy, 
background reports and the proposed design plans, and ask 
. Representatives from the City, the consulting team and the 
Ward Councillor will be available to discuss the project with you. 
June 15th : Winter Overnight Parking Restrictions – Public 
Engagement Session, 6:30-8:00 pm at the Glen Cairn Community 
Centre (Upper Hall), 186 Morrena Road 
The purpose of this open house is to engage the public on 
\proposed changes to the Winter Overnight Parking provisions 
of the Traffic and Parking By-law.  The session will include a 
presentation by City staff and a question period. Residents are 
invited to provide comments on how parking bans are 
communicated to the public, enforcement of the by-law, on- \
and off-street parking options during a winter parking ban, and 
criteria for implementing an overnight parking ban.   
June 17th Councillor’s 5th Annual Senior’s Social –  
11:30am- 1:30pm, Kanata Recreation Complex (Hall A), 
100 Walter Baker Place 
Councillor’s annual celebration for seniors!  This event will have 
City Service Booths in attendance to provide information and

              Eagleson Park & Ride three more accessible spaces signed plus five unsigned but
              built so just ready to be signed into used; Cleaning the Capital one and1/2 hours at
              McNeil East side bus stop; tennis post and nets for Beaufort courts at Beaufort Tennis
              Courts;   The outdoor fitness park at the Kanata Recreation Complex in Walter
              Baker Park is now open   The fitness equipment is user friendly for all residents
              and seniors; Meeting  Hydro Ottawa $40 extra per year increasing cumulatively
              for next ten years == what about City’s  Hydro Profits   $19 million; Complete

 3.   Treasurer’s Update KHCA should have about $2000 left after the June 13 picnic.
4.   Community BBQ will be onJune 13th from 11 am to 3 pm in Cattail Creek Park              centered near Katimavik Elementary School.     Stage is set and park rented; health                                  elements; musicians, BBQ & tents; first aid and port-a-potties are arranged.  Truck with                 2 inch ball hook and food are in process.   KatimavikHazeldean Community BBQ  Picnic in the Kanata Kourier- Standard and school’s newsletters as well and KHCA  accounts –Facebook and Twitter;
