Bringing LRT to Kanata
At the Finance Economic and Development Committee that took place on Monday June 29th, I tabled a motion to initiate the process needed to bring LRT to Kanata. I would like to thank our Mayor Jim Watson and Transit Chair, Stephen Blais for working on this with me as a part of our shared vision of a fully connected city. I also wish to thank Councillor Qadri for all his efforts to work together on transportation and transit for our communities. This is very exciting for Kanata and Stittsville residents as we have taken a big step forward to having a seamless transit system from Kanata to Orleans

Hope Side Road Closure
Starting on Friday, July 17th, 2015 at 7:00 pm, Hope Side Road from Old Richmond Road to Eagleson Road will be closed until 6:00 am on Monday, July 27th, 2015. An additional box culvert is being added under Hope Side Road as part of the Monahan Drain Facility retrofit project. The additional box culvert will improve the overall flow regime through the stormwater facility and into the downstream Municipal Drain. Unfortunately, the design specifies a concrete distribution slab that must cure for 7 days before the roadway surface can be reinstated. The necessary traffic detours will be in place for the duration of the closure.

Fitness Parks Now Open!
Two of our newest community parks are now open! The outdoor fitness parks at Eva James Community Centre and the Kanata Recreation Complex have opened this spring and are already getting lots of use. I encourage you to stop by one of the parks and check it out for yourself! Bring your smartphone to scan the QR code for different instructional exercises and videos.

The walk for Acute Brain Injury. Funds raised for this worthwhile cause go towards the new Pathways to Independ-ence location in Kanata South.

A big thank you goes out to the volunteers from Amsted Design-Build who came out to help plant colourful perennials in Ravine Park.
