One Youth Drop-in Centre

Good Morning
As a reply to our discussion in the October AGM about a drop in centre for youth, I received the information below.
Should anyone be interested in youth opportunities for Katimavik Hazeldean feel free to become involved.
Nilay will be away for a short while, so there is an opportunity to check out the ZONE;s  November 24 Open House invitation extended below.
The Calendars of November and December Zone activities are displayed below
Best regards,
Rod

WOCRC has a FREE! Youth drop-in centre in Glen Cairn, at the Lion’s Club (Dick Brule Community Centre), 170 Castlefrank Road, that runs on Monday evenings (we also have an anxiety-prevention program for youth on Thursday evenings that requires registration.

Come to the open house to see what it’s all about on Monday, November 24th from 5 – 9pm. Everyone is welcome!
Jessie Cornford is the Child and Youth Worker who coordinates the Zone as the Drop in Centre is called.    I am told that Jessie is fabulous…. and that she would be glad to have a conversation with you or anyone interested in youth issues in our community, including what residents feel is important for youth.
Feel free to call or email Jessie:

The ZONE (Youth-Only Space)
A unique space just for youth, the ZONE offers safe and supervised drop-in programming during critical after-school hours in Glen Cairn with the ultimate goals of prevention and intervention, education, encouraging physical activity, emphasizing the importance of healthy lifestyles and personal choices, community volunteerism and most of all, FUN!
The ZONE is also a great place where youth can come to meet other teens, access resources and talk to staff for referrals to social services around the city that can meet a wide variety of the needs that youth have.
