Minutes of the April 8, 2013 were adopted as circulated.
President’s update: 2013 Park clean-up progressing well.  It may be that Stonegate Park clean-up is mistakenly imagined to involve dog feces.  Vandalism on Hearst Way was noted.   23 Bachman Terrace shrub and tree removal was with permission when needed.    Peary Way Berm construction cost $230,000.    Safety concerns led to supporting four lanes for West Hunt Club to Old Richmond Road to Hope Side Road from HWY 416 to Eagleson Road.
KHCA website: Food Cupboard; WLRT submission.
Following up on April 8 minutes and President`s update Patrick Fynn explained his company`s approach to 66 Hearst Way and discussed concerns of residents with the building`s future use in view of the application for a zoning change.
Long and McQuade owns the 44,000 sq ft building and is as opposed to its becoming a teenage hang out as are neighbouring residents.     Long and McQuade sees 66 Hearst Way as a location from which to serve not just Ottawa`s Westend but to attract business from communities up the Ottawa River Valley.       The Kids Kingdom is to be a children`s family oriented fun centre aimed to young especially in arcade type activities.       The portion of the building left  vacant now is allocated to the eventual expansion of Long and McQuade music business.
Residents expressed concerns about:  business signage, whether the Kids Kingdom will restrict itself to young children, maintenance of the parking lot and stop signs onto Hearst Way, possible Adult Day Care to complement the Kids Kingdom and whether there is a minimum distance required between a children`s day care and a Parole Office that would not be respected in this case.
Community Summer Picnic on June 15 at Cattail Creek Park from 11 am to 3 pm is coming together.      The picnic will be a simple old fashion family fun day with activities and prizes for all ages.      Bring a blanket, picnic hamper, sun hat, sun screen and refreshments.   First aid is lined up.   KHCA will continue its Membership Drive during the day.       We need volunteers for set up on June 15 call Suzanne at 613-591-1860
