Young’s Pond receives $20K for beautification

@KourierStandard: Young's Pond Park to get an upgrade:
Jessica Cunha - Aug 12, 2011 (cited 13 August 2011):
Young’s Pond Park recently received $20,000 to go towards beautifying the area.
The money was raised from a charity golf tournament, held by Waste Management, on Aug. 2.
The project to revitalize the park includes adding a boardwalk, benches, picnic tables and a new park sign.
Young’s Pond Park is located off McCurdy Drive, near Young Road in Kanata south. Many residents walk the paths in all seasons and the pond is turned into a skating rink in the winter.
The man-made pond was built in the 1980s and the park boasts a play structure, benches, walking trails and a large sand box.
“I am very pleased,” said Kanata South Coun. Allan Hubley.
The tournament, held at the Marshes Golf Club and the Brookstreet Hotel in Kanata, raised $375,000, which was donated to 19 charities.
